What's missing?

Take a look at the picture below. It is an artist's rendition of a proposed development site. The question I pose to you is: What's missing? For this to look more realistic, what would have to be included in the drawing? Do you suppose these things were left out intentionally? Why or why not?

Where's the SMOG?
The stop lights,
The advertisments,
The drunks,
The gangs,
The litter and garbage,
Where's the bird grunge?
This is a scene from another planet or a parallel dimension.
Right?!
Ok, this is a trick question. There is something profound hidden in the picture itself, something not very obvious.
I'm looking but cannot see. If you stare at it for awhile then look away real quick; I think I'm getting something. Naw, just an eye strain headache.

This is a tough one...

The first thing i noticed was that there was no sign. there was nothing in the window. no type of advertising. you don't really know what kind of store it is at all. there's really nothing in or on any of the buildings in the picture. the picture is crowded with people and not cars and most of the cars you see are taxis. everything looks very clean as well. i don't know if these things were left out intentionally. i don't know that the idea of less advertisment, etc is really connected with a cleaner, better place. i think that deals with the number of people in a city and how well the city keeps things clean.

I noticed that in this picture there are no stop lights or stop signs but the community seem to be functional and there dont seem to be any problems. It gives a warm feeling that all is well and functional. I have to say i thoroughly enjoy the picture. I suppose the street signs and lights not being put into this picture is like a utopia, that everything has its place and is flowing. I dont know if this could ever actually work because to many people are anxious to get any where they dont stop for any one in their way.

i took another closer look at this picture and i noticed that everyone has dark hair and a dark complexion. Im not trying to be racised, i didnt see it the first few times. Also there appear to be billboards just above the main doors in the picture of the main large building, but we cant make it out. People are for the most part walking every where and if not they are standing carrying one conversation. There are cars, but you cant tell what kind and you dont see the people inside. And in the distance you can see power lines, but to me they look like they are in water. There are also overhangs on every building.

Something missing eh?

what is it...

That depends, is this Nampa? I'd think so, there's no cops. HAHA,

*Ahem*

Anyways, hmmm, there's traffic missingggg...can't be Boise....

umm,

No advertisements at all and no features of the people that stand out. Everything is plain and harmonic, which is completely different from the real world, right?

I'd think that Mickey Mouse is missing, as this appears to be a new "Bogusland" add-on in Disneyland.

Hmm... the only thing that I think is missing are the advertisments. I don't see any at all. The umbrella's that are white and red don't even have "coca cola" running down the sides. I can't tell what model the cars are in the picture at all.

I have no idea why the artist did not include these things. If it really is a proposed development site drawing corporations should love the idea of advertisments everywhere. The more advertisments, the more money for them.

The first hing I noticed was that there are more people walking then there are driving. I know that from my own experince that is a not common thing to see these days. I also do not see any type stop sigs, lights, or signs telling you what store is what. The roads and sidewalks seem to be alot wider then I am used. I also thought that the only cars in the picure looked like taxi cars which I thought was kind of weird. I gues sit would depend on where it was to judge what is normal and what is not normal. natasha

To list a few: stop lights, trash of any kind, possibly smog, advertisements, the list could go on. There’s no question as to whether or not this picture was arranged this way intentionally. As an artist trying to give the development site appeal, it would be ridiculous to include most of these things. No one would like to feel bombarded with commercials as opposed to what the picture portrays a peaceful, nice setting. Who, besides someone involved with marketing, would want to look at a site full of clutter?

I would say sign are missing, you don't know what building is for what. The missing things are Advertising, no traffic, no Mcdonalds, no stop sign, or crossing passanger sign. I would assume that this place is just for walking, their are no personal cars only taxi are allowed. Their is only one white car and i think that is for someone special. Their tables are empty, no star buck coffee, drinks or food on it.

Based on the cars I would have to say that the picture is based on the future. I see the artist imagining paradise, but for him/her paradise might mean a label free society, something that does not exist today but might be possible in the future. I'm not sure though. It is either a label free paradise or the companies have not decided where to put their logos yet.

The first thing I notice is the lack of street signs, there are no stop signs or lights anywhere, but I don't really think that is what you wanted me to be looking for. I also notice this seems to be a busy downtown area, so where are all the billboards or teenage kids holding signs? Where are the hotdog carts and the like. There would also be much more traffic. But I think if the artist were to draw all that, it would honestly look like crap, he or she wanted it to look like a good place to be, not like every other downtown area in America.
